GV II

Two terrace houses, now shops. Early C19 with late C20 alterations.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, concrete tile roofs.
PLAN: Double depth houses with central valley.
EXTERIOR: Two storeys and basement, revealed as full three storeys to rear, each one window. First floor tripartite plain sash. No.22 has pilaster shopfront with glazed door to left, under shallow fascia with cornice. No.23 wide plate glass front with glazed shop door to left, and panelled door to right, all under late C20 plastic fascia. Each has glass block pavement light above basement window, small plinth, lintel with frieze, moulded cornice, blocking course and parapet. To centre party division has very lofty ashlar stacks at each ridge. Rear has some twelve-pane sashes, including stair lights, and door to basement.
INTERIORS: Not inspected, except No. 23 inspected by bath Council 1981. Original staircase with newels and cut string, triple window in first floor front room with four-panelled low cupboards in alcoves either side of fireplace. The cornice continues to Nos 20 and 21 (qv) to left, and No.24 (qv) to right, and pair appears to have been part of original terrace of five or six houses.
