Semi-detached villa. Early C19.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, slate roof.
EXTERIOR: Lofty central range with full height bows, with slightly set back lower wings. Two storeys and lower ground floor, one:one:one:one windows, all sashes, also with blind central panels. First floor are large sixteen-pane sash, over very large twenty-four-pane sash plus margin lights, taken to floor level which has full width openwork cast iron veranda on slender iron supports, and with continuous delicate railing, lower ground level has small two-light casements, in slight plinth. Plain end pilasters, lintel, frieze, cornice, blocking course and parapet, all carried round heads of bows, and central ashlar stack. Wings have small twelve-pane sash above panelled door with narrow sidelights having diagonal glazing bars, with flat pilasters, and to sunk arch with square keystone on swagged fanlight. Doors approached by short flight of stone steps and landing, with simple railings. Return of No.46, to road, has blind light above twelve-pane sash, above wide, part glazed door in broad moulded architrave, and small two-light casement to right, front lowest level dressed stone, upper parts in ashlar. Rear, approached by service road at high level, has twelve and sixteen-pane sashes, wings plain, but with small two storey extension to No.46. Both centre and wings have cavetto cornice to blocking course and parapet.
INTERIORS: Not inspected. Fine pair of villas, deliberately different from adjoining Nos 50/52 (qv) and set high above main road, with views to east.
