Early 19th century with later alterations and additions. 2-storey, 3-bay farm house with steading to N, with single storey projection to E and later glazed, lean-to addition to W. Harled with ashlar dressings to S elevation; harl-pointed rubble to remaining elevations and projection to E, with stugged ashlar dressings.
S ELEVATION: deep-set door with upper half border-glazed and rectangular plate glass fanlight above at centre; window at 1st floor above. Window to each storey of flanking bays with later bipartite window at ground of bay to left. Modern door with glazed upper to outer left of projection to E.
N ELEVATION OF SINGLE STOREY PROJECTION: 5-bay. Gig house and stable. Glazed and vented widow to centre. Boarded door with 3-pane rectangular fanlight above in bay left of centre. Segmental-arched opening to outer left with boarded door. Window in bay right of centre and door to outer right.
12-pane timber sash and case windows; 4-pane timber sash and case windows to bipartite to S elevation. Slate roof with brick wallhead stacks to E and W.
INTERIOR: timber banister, 1995.
GATEPIERS: to E of rear of house; square-planned with pyramidal coping.
The farm house would appear to be of an early date. The steading to N has a fine cart shed-granary. The name "Cheeklaw" first appears on the 1771 map, on this site.
