Description

Early 19th century, E facing single storey, 3-bay cottage.
White-washed rubble. Later single bay timber boarded
extension continuous with S gable. Centre door masked by
painted weather boarded gabled porch; small 4-pane
casement window to right and diminutive window to left.
End stacks; corrugated iron roof.

Statement of Interest

Weather boarding and timber extensions are common in Speyside, reflecting the availability of sawn timber for building

purposes.

Corrugated iron roof replaced earlier thatch. Stack at N

gable appears to have replaced thatched "lum" serving

(former) canopied hearth.

Cottage now serves as hostel for mountaineering club.
