Description

Present mansion built of red sandstone to the design of
Hew Montgomerie Wardrop is dated 1887. A portion of an
earlier house by Robert Adam is incorporated and the interior
has good detailing and well proportioned rooms. The Robert
Burns association with the estate gave occasion for the
production of the two lyrics "The Braes o' Ballochmyle" and
"The Lass of Ballochmyle".
