Description

Earlier 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay house. Coursed, squared rubble with Aberdeen bond snecking, and rubble with stone cills; narrow quoin strips. Base course.

NE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical. Centre bay at ground with panelled timber door and plate glass fanlight, windows in flanking bays and regular fenestration close to eaves at 1st floor. Garages adjoining to both right and left.

Plate glass glazing in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Coped brick stacks with cans.

INTERIOR: some good interior detail retained including timber fire surrounds, boarded timber walls to kitchen and turnpike stair (see Notes) with decorative cast-iron balusters.

Statement of Interest

Group with Nos 21, 28 and Old Bank House. The current owner believes the house to date from 1832. The staircase has been referred to locally as a 'dancing stair'.
