Description

C G Soutar (Maclaren, Sons and Soutar) 1906 Arts and
Crafts asymmetrical gabled villa, harled on brick base.
S elevation triple gabled, ground floor exposed brick.
1st floor ashlar string course, canted oriels in centre and
right hand bays later extended down to ground floor in
place of original half-timbering and flat tripartites.
Large gable at left with original 5-light canted bay
through both floors and Venetian in attic. Gable swept
down to enclose arched garden entrance, altered to receive
unfortunate sun lounge.
E elevation: steep gable sweeps down to simple canopied
porch at left. Wrought-iron lantern. Ground floor porthole
and leaded glass single and bipartite windows. 1st floor
tripartite.
Red tiled roofs, tall stacks in roof slopes with curious
capped shoulders. Sash and case windows, small paned
upper cases.
INTERIOR: panelled hall of fumed pine with Art Nouveau
carved door-surrounds. Built-in drawing room cupboards.
Low rubble build boundary walls and gatepiers.
