Description

David Baxter (Johnston and Baxter), late 19th century. 2-storey,

baronially-detailed commercial building. Cream sandstone coursers, red sandstone ashlar dressings, grey slate roof. Base course, string course at 1st floor, moulded eaves; bipartite windows with chamfered jambs and mullions, corbelled tripartite oriels with stone canted roofs and cast-iron finialled crowstepped dormerheads, 3-pane top-hopper glazing pattern to ground floor, timber sash and case to 1st floor with single or 2-pane to bottom and multi-pane to top; corniced ridge stacks with uniform black cans, cast-iron rainwater goods.

FRONT ELEVATION: depressed-arch pend entrance with doors to centre right flanked by doors with square-headed fanlights, bipartite window to right, 4 bipartites to left, oriel to 1st floor centre flanked by bipartites with oriels to outer bays.

REAR COURTYARD: single storey brick and slate lean-to buildings around courtyard.

INTERIOR: not seen.
