Description

Probably early 18th century. Rectangular-plan harled lectern dovecot. Grey slate lean-to roof with crowstepped coping with beaked skewputts to either side. Entrance with iron yett to S side. Rat ledge at upper level. Row of 9 entrance holes set along middle of roof pitch.

Statement of Interest

B-Group with Pitreavie Castle and former East Lodge (see separate list descriptions). An intact early 18th century dovecot built for the adjacent Pitreavie Castle (see separate list description). Pitreavie Castle was built in the early to earlier 17th century and altered and extended in 1885. From 1938 to 1996 the castle and the estate were in the ownership of the Ministry of Defence. Currently (1999) a housing development is being constructed on the estate.
