Description

Earlier 19th century with later additions. Single storey, 3-bay classical house. Finely droved ashlar; rubble side elevation. Base course, cornice and blocking course.

SE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: flush-panelled door to centre, rectangular plate glass fanlight above; windows to flanking bays. Later addition to right, slightly recessed, ashlar with cornice, blocking course and coping, window.

NW (REAR) ELEVATION: not seen.

12-pane timber sash and case windows. Piended slate roof with lean-to extension. Ashlar extended wallhead stack to left adjacent to No 52; rendered stack, formerly wallhead to side elevation prior to extension.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1994.

BOUNDARY WALL: rendered with coping.

Statement of Interest

The masonry has been recently pointed which detracts from the effect of the closely fitted ashlar. Similarly the lintel of the door has been repaired with cement. The simple block cills may be seen as an indication of the buildings relatively early date, perhaps circa 1830.
