Description

Circa 1868. 4-storey and attic warehouse of 15 bays, curved at E end to Maxwell Street. Cream ashlar sandstone, painted at ground with moulded cornice above ground partially retained, and that eaves with parapet; string course between 1st and 2nd floor, cill course to 3rd. Main doorway pilastered with mutuled segmental pediment, semi-circular fanlight with keystone and panelled door; tripartite windows above, with outer lights blind. Windows grouped in pairs of threes, some blind and with single bay to outer left; broad pilasters dividing grouped windows, and full-height giant pilasters dividing bays. Plate-glass sash and case windows, tall and narrow at 1st floor, diminishing in size by 3rd floor.

Built for McCorquodale & Co, as printing works, and linked by the curved bays to their premises at 96 Maxwell Street, and to premises at W at 60-70 listed separately. Possibly by David Thomson.
