Description

A Gardner, 1897, H E Clifford, 1907. Massive 5-storey and
attic warehouse, 13 main bays, 3 additional S bays; 12 return
N bays (brick with stone dressings to latter, Renaissance
style. Locharbriggs stone front, rubble plinth, ashlar ground
and also for pilastered frames 1st-3rd floors, with rubble
recessed faces. Various alterations to round-arched ground
floor entrances. 1st and 2nd floor windows in margins and
with cornice linked vertically, 3rd floor with cill band, all
under giant pilastered arches; centre bay wider with
pilasters rising into 4th floor and tall central canted
window, outer windows of central bay detailed as in flanking
bays. Key-blocked bull's eye windows in 4th floor. Main
cornice and parapet. (now mutilated). Office block in 3 S
bays, 4 storeys, 2 wide arched openings flank central cavetto
moulded entrance recess with pilastered and corniced door,
balcony above to 3-storey canted window; die parapet.
Remaining elevations in brick, bold arched bays at N.
