Description

Robert Wemyss, 1890. 2-storey asymmetrical offices. Stugged, snecked red sandstone; ashlar dressings. Base course, part bracketted cill course at 1st floor; ashlar mullioned windows, ovolo moulded arrises; low eaves.

N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: semi-circular-arched doorway off-centre left, deep-chamfered reveals, 2-leaf panelled doors (modern wheel chair ramp abutting); 'Rhu Parish Council Chambers' inscribed over doorway. Bipartite window to right. Semi-circular-arched pend to outer right. Window to right at 1st floor; short pilaster strip to left corbelled at cill course with date stone below; bipartite window to outer right. Gabled bay to outer left with pair windows at ground; canted oriel above with half-piend slate roof. Carved panel to gablehead.

Sash and case windows with plate glass to lower sashes, multi-pane to upper sashes. Green/grey slate roof; coped sandstone stack to left gable; skew blocks; original rainwater goods.
