18th century with later alterations. 2-storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan, near symmetrical crowstepped gabled house as part of terraced pair, with stop chamfered SW angle. Harled. Block cills to windows.
W (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: deep-set modern part-glazed door at ground in bay to centre; window at 1st floor above. Window at each floor in bay to right. 2 windows, set close, at ground in bay to left; window at 1st floor above.
S (SIDE) ELEVATION: window at ground in bay to left; window at 1st floor in bay to right; gablehead stack above.
4- and 2-pane timber sash and case windows; rooflight to W pitch. grey slate roof; stone ridge; harled, corniced gablehead stack to S; similar common stack to N; uPVC rainwater goods.
INTERIOR: not seen, 1998.
Abutting Number 8 to the north (listed separately), this house retains its original crowstepped gables. The wide gap between these windows and the eaves is typical of town houses in both Orkney and Shetland.
