Statement of Interest

This tenement with its row of decorative iron balconies is a significant part of the streetscape in this area of Perth. A number of the shop fronts have timber pilasters which are likely to date to the end of the 19th century and these and the horizontal line of the fascia, add to the character of the building.

North Methven Street itself was laid out in the 1790s but the majority of the buildings are thought to be of a later date. This tenement is first depicted on the map of 1838-9.

List description updated as part of Perth Burgh resurvey, 2010.
