Earlier 19th century. 3-storey and attic, 7-bay corner Classical tenement with shops to ground. Rendered to street (E), rubble to rear and side. Raised cills. Ground floor shops with timber pilasters, timber fascia and cornice. Some moulded stall risers. Decorative iron decorative balconies to 1st floor.
Pair of small piended dormers, 2 later, larger dormers.
Predominantly replacement non-traditional tilt and turn windows. Plate glass to ground. Concrete roof tiles. Brick ridge stacks.
Shop at No 63 now integral with shops at No 65.
This tenement with its row of decorative iron balconies is a significant part of the streetscape in this area of Perth. A number of the shop fronts have timber pilasters which are likely to date to the end of the 19th century and these and the horizontal line of the fascia, add to the character of the building.
North Methven Street itself was laid out in the 1790s but the majority of the buildings are thought to be of a later date. This tenement is first depicted on the map of 1838-9.
