Description

John Kinross, circa 1900. 2 identical pairs of gatepiers to W of dairy, lining path to formal garden (see separate listings). Each pair ashlar sandstone with fleuron carved studs to quatrefoil panelled frieze, rising into gablet cap wth rolled string courses; panelled buttresses abutting inner faces with curved coping. Outer pair of gatepiers with ornate, 2-leaf wrought-iron gates of climbing roses entwined in railings.

Statement of Interest

Form of gatepier used by Kinross again at Carlekemp, North Berwick, at about the same date. In an A Group with the complex of buildings at Buxley.
