Description

Later 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan Italianate villa. Whinstone and sandstone rubble with harl-pointing; painted ashlar margins and dressings. Base course, quoin strips. Broad eaves on decorative wooden carved brackets; round-headed windows at 1st floor, moulded arch heads.

SW (MAIN) ELEVATION: 3-bay with decorative cast-iron balcony on curved wooden brackets spanning front at 1st floor. Full-height canted bay to outer left, bargeboarded gable breaking eaves; pilasters dividing windows, timber boarding in gablehead. Plain door to right, round-headed window above, tripartite window to outer right, bipartite round-headed window above.

SE ELEVATION: broad gable, door and window at ground outer left and right, raggle of former conservatory at centre ground and left. Windows symmetrically disposed at 1st floor, narrow window at centre. Terraced area with modern cement brick wall.

NW ELEVATION: broad gable, blocked window at ground to right, bipartite to left, windows symmetrically disposed at 1st floor, narrow window at centre, flanking windows. Single storey, 2-bay service block to left, bracketted eaves.

Plate glass timber sash and case windows; grey slate roof, corniced, coped apex stacks, tall paired octagonal cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1994.
