Description

Mid 19th century. 2-storey, 3-bay, rectangular-plan gabled cottage. Painted harled and lined, rubble at rear and side elevations. Advanced bracketed eaves. Quoin strips.

NE (MAIN) ELEVATION: gabled porch advanced at centre, 2-leaf panelled storm door, small pane fanlight, inner half-glazed door; blank escutcheon above. Flanking corniced canted windows; windows at upper storey with painted margins, breaking eaves in gableheads.

NW ELEVATION: broad gable to outer left, window at upper floor to outer right; 2-storey, 2-bay gabled wing at rear, smaller windows at ground, larger window at upper floor.

8-pane timber lying-pane timber sash and case windows; 4-pane timber windows. Grey slate roof, lead flashings; sandstone coped ridge stacks, octagonal cans.

Statement of Interest

The house is shown on the 1st edition map. It was the former Free Church manse and had become the United Free Church Manse by 1896 (2nd edition OS map). It is part of Luss estate.
