Mid 19th century with later alterations and additions to rear. 2-storey 3-bay rectangular-plan plain classical house. Pink ashlar sandstone with polished dressings. Base course; eaves cornice. Raised, moulded architraved windows with raised cills; long and short quoins.
N (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: slightly advanced, pilastered doorpiece with plain frieze and cornice at ground in bay to centre; deep-set timber panelled door with letterbox fanlight; window at 1st floor above. Window in each bay flanking.
S (REAR) ELEVATION: irregular 5-bay with addition to centre bay. Square-plan lean-to porch, accessed by dog-leg stairs in bay to centre at 1st floor; modern 2-leaf door; modern window in left return; narrow (modern) windows flanking. Window in bay, offset in bay to right, at ground. Window at each floor in bay to outer right. Modern lean-to porch at ground in bay, offset to left of centre. Window at each floor in bay to outer left.
W (SIDE) ELEVATION: blank wall with gablehead stack.
E (SIDE) ELEVATION: window at each floor in bay to right of centre; central gablehead stack above.
Predominantly 12-pane, lying-pane timber sash and case windows with some uPVC replacements to rear. Grey slate roof; slate to additions; ashlar skews; ashlar coped gablehead stacks to E and W; tall ashlar stack to S; cast-iron rainwater goods with some plastic replacements at rear.
INTERIOR: not seen, 1997.
GATEPIERS AND WALLS: 2 pairs; square-plan ashlar piers with flattened pyramidal caps to left; replacement rubble piers with flat cope to right; low sandstone rubble wall with squared ashlar cope.
A good detached villa, little-altered at the front and retaining its original lying-pane windows.
