Description

Earlier 19th century with later alterations and additions. 2-storey, 3-bay rectangular-plan plain symmetrical house with flat-roofed addition to rear. Harled. Plain cement margins to openings.

NE (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: timber panelled door with letterbox fanlight at ground in bay to centre; window at 1st floor above. Window at each floor in each bay flanking.

SE AND NW (SIDE) ELEVATIONS: blank with gablehead stacks.

4-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; stone ridge; harled, corniced gablehead stacks; uPVC rainwater goods.

INTERIOR: not seen, 1998.

BOUNDARY WALLS AND GATEPIERS: low, harled wall with cement copes; square-plan low piers to centre.

Statement of Interest

Plain and symmetrical, this house is a good and relatively unchanged example of an early part 19th century merchant's house. It retains its timber-framed glazing pattern from later in the 19th century.
