Description

Later 19th century. Single storey, 3-bay gate lodge. Whinstone; granite quoins and dressings. Timber bracketed eaves.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: central gabled advanced timber entrance porch; timber finial; timber door; shouldered letterbox fanlight. Single window to left; bipartite window to right.

S (SIDE) ELEVATION: pentice porch to bipartite window in gabled bay; square panel to gable; timber finial.

N (SIDE) ELEVATION: pentice porch to bipartite window in gabled bay to left; square panel to gable; timber finial. Single window to outer right.

W (REAR) ELEVATION: 2 single windows to gabled bay to outer left (window to right modern); timber and glass entrance door to re-entrant angle to left; timber door to lean-to to right.

Predominantly 8-pane timber sash and case windows. Grey slate roof; corniced brick ridge stack; circular cans.

INTERIOR: not seen 1999.

GATEPIERS AND GATE: square-plan stone gatepiers with pyramidal caps; timber gate.

A good example of later 19th century domestic estate architecture, notable especially for its timber entrance porch and bracketed eaves.
