Description

Later to late 19th century. 2-storey and attic, 2-bay shop with dwellings above in irregular terrace to E. Squared chlorite-slate rubble with stugged ashlar dressings. Hoodmoulds; stone mullions.

N (PRINCIPAL) ELEVATION: symmetrical above ground, M-gabled. Bay to right at ground with traditional shop with in-canted part-glazed 2-leaf door to centre, flanking cast-iron colonettes and fixed display windows; further display window with colonette and in-canted door to left, all under corniced fascia. 2 tripartite windows to 1st floor and smaller bipartite windows to gableheads.

W ELEVATION: gabled elevation with panelled timber door to outer right at ground, adjacent window to left and fixed display window to outer left; 2 windows to 1st floor and small window to centre in gablehead.

S (REAR) ELEVATION: asymmetrically-fenestrated elevation with full-height catslide-roofed bay to outer right and 2 original dormer windows above.

4-pane and plate glass glazing patterns in timber sash and case windows. Greys slates. Coped ashlar stacks with cans. Overhanging eaves with plain bargeboarding.

BOUNDARY WALLS AND RAILINGS: low rubble boundary walls with inset railings.

Statement of Interest

Good survival of traditional shop in the centre of Aberfeldy's main street and at the entrance to Moness Glen.
