William Smith, 1858, gates dated 1919. Granite gatepiers with stop-chamfered arrises, cornices and ball finials, flanked by low quadrant walls of squared granite with rounded coping. Decorative wrought-iron 2-leaf carriage gates, gilded finials, cast by Waverley Foundry, stamped at intervals Waverley Best with dividing crown insignia, and featuring circular panels bearing ciphers 'GVR' and 'MR'.
Pair of lamp standards by Macfarlane and Company, Glasgow, sited within gates, flanking drive; moulded shafts with decorative brackets and ball finialled lanterns capped in copper and with scalloped copper apron.
B Group with War Memorial, Entrance Gates, Gate Lodge and Bridge Lodge.
Grouped with Bridge and Gate Lodges. Demarking the principal entrance to the castle.
