Description

J and W Smith, 1851. Single storey, 9-bay gabled range of stables with hayloft above, sited to E of main stables and coach house. Squared and coursed granite. 9 doors to W elevation, variety of pedestrian and stable width, 6 now blocked with timber boarding and windows inserted. Piend-roofed, slate- hung hayloft dormer above centre bay. Further hayloft opening in gablehead of S return, above off-centre blinded door. Grey slates and lead ridge. Ashlar coped skews.

Statement of Interest

A group with Venison Larder, Ice House, Stables, Game Larders, The Surgery and Iron Ballroom, Joiners' Workshop.

Presumably these are the pony stables described in the Archives as built in 1851. They form part of a critical group with the main stables.
