Present building is early C19, but is probably the site refered to as No. 25 by Palmer, where an inn was in existence by 1755.
Painted brick with slate roof. 3 storeys, 2 window range, the shop front to ground floor a late C20 insertion (replacing an earlier C20 shop front). 9-pane sash windows to first floor with flat arched painted heads were probably reduced in height when earlier shop front was inserted. Second floor windows are of greater height, and also have flat-arched heads.
Plain wood eaves cornice.
Forms part of an important group of commercial buildings on High Street.
Included for group value.
