Freestone base with carved Calvary cross and inset alabaster heads. The edge inscription seems to me to have been sharpened in places. This would have been a normal occurrence to counteract fading, if there had been hands laid on the stone seeking the transmission of a prayer. I figure the inscription to have originally read -Willam de Naunto et Isamay sa femme restent isi. Dieu de leur anim ayt merci Amen.- to give a likely meaning, William of Nantes? and Isamay his wife repose here. May God on their souls have mercy Amen. (Photo Oct 2010).
