Uploader's Comments

In 1881, new floors were laid in the chancel with encaustic tiles bearing the arms of the Lord Cawdor and the Bishop of St Davids. (Church guide). The left hand half of the shield represents, clockwise from left, the Calder, Campbell, Lorne and Lort ancestors of the Earls of Cawdor. The right hand half of the shield represents the Boteville and Thynne families, indicating that Lord Cawdor's wife was daughter of the Marquess of Bath. (Photo Oct 2010).
