History

Probably contemporary with house built 1885.

Exterior

Terrace of snecked rock-faced sandstone in grey and red, decoratively used, with ashlar dressings. It comprises a stepped retaining wall with saddleback coping extending either side of a canted bay which has a parapet of pierced masonry in quatrefoils and overhanging coping. At the end of each section of wall is a pier with wide moulded caps; a pair of piers flanks each flight of steps descending to the lawn parallel with the wall .

Reasons for Listing

Included as an eye-catching element in the house setting, for group value with the house and former stables.
