History

Gates and railings to Calvinistic Methodist chapel of 1879, presumably also of 1879.

Exterior

Gates and railings, silver-painted iron railings with fleur-de-lys heads. Tapering stanchions with ornate fleur-de-lys heads. Rubble stone low front walls, returned to chapel front each side, with slate coping. Fine centre pierced openwork iron piers with caps and large ball finials. Pair of gates matching railings but with low dog bars between. At each end are double gates to side accesses, each with similar rails and dog-bars, but top rails ramped down to centre and outer posts terminated in wrought iron scrolls. Square section cast-iron gatepiers, panelled with coved pyramid caps.

Reasons for Listing

Included as an ornate example of later C19 ironwork, of group value with Capel Carmel.
