History

Probably contemporary with the house, perhaps C18. The farmhouse and its two earlier farmyard ranges form three sides of a square around a midden, now completed with a west range and with a paved perimeter.

Exterior

Three-bay cowhouse range downslope at right angles to the house; at the lower end but under a roof at the same height is a lofted continuation, perhaps stables. Whitewashed uncoursed masonry, slate roof. Full-height central opening to the cowhouse. Three doors and two loft hatches to the lower part.

Interior

Roof trusses of the cowhouse of queen-strut type with some additional bracing.

Reasons for Listing

Listed as a good traditional building forming part of an intact early farmstead and for group value with Ty-mawr farmhouse and other buildings.
