2 houses, facing each other, E and W, across a small green.
1847 (date plaque). Part of a development of almshouses.
Enlarged and divided in C20. Gault and red brick, peg and clay
tiled roofs. Front elevation (E and W) gault brick, 3 window
range, central doorway, prominent gault gable-end stacks each
with paired diagonally set shafts. Doorway chamfered, 4-centre
arched head, boarded door of 2 leaves, 4 windows all similar,
chamfered reveals, splayed sills, sliding sashes with glazing
bars, 4x4 panes. Central first floor window projecting gabled
brick oriel on concave corbel, 2-light casement window 2x4
panes. Rear elevation, E and W, red brick, with some burnt
headers, ground and first floor C20 casement windows to outer
ends, 2x4 panes. Central 2 storeyed C20 addition with
stairway, casement windows with glazing bars, C20 door. No.1A,
addition in red brick and rendered. No.9A, yellow grey brick,
doorway projected out to S. N and S end elevations: gables
have moulded barge-boards. Date plaques on N ends. Nos 1 & 1A
S end has casement windows on ground and first floor, 2x3
panes and 2x4 panes respectively.
