SD 27 SE ALDINGHAM ALDINGHAM

19/6 The Old Rectory

G.V. II


House. Late C18 or early C19. Roughcast stone with ashlar dressings and
slate roofs. 2 parallel ranges. North elevation of 2 storeys and 3 bays,
with later single-storey extension to south of no special interest. Top
cornice; quoins. Windows are sashed with glazing bars, but those to 1st bay
are later casements resembling sashes. 2 windows to 3rd bay of ground floor;
round-headed window to 2nd bay of 1st floor. Central entrance has traceried
fanlight and 6-panel door. Gabled porch on 4 Doric columns with central
round arch. South elevation of 3 storeys and 5 bays. Sashed windows with
glazing bars; tripartite sashes to 1st bay, Venetian windows on 2 floors to
5th bay. 2nd bay has round-headed entrance with traceried fanlight. Gable-
end-stacks. East elevation has tripartite sashes to 2nd bay, that to lst
floor has elliptical head; angel corbel supports finial.
