Barn about 20 yards south-
east of Ash Grove

GV II

Barn. Probably C18 with early C19 addition. Timber-frame, brick infill
panels and weatherboards to C18 part, sandstone rubble C19 extension.
Five plus four bays aligned roughly north-west/south-east. South-west
elevation: ledged stable doors to left and tallet stairs to the right
of which is a ledged full-height opposed entry. Rubble C19 extension to
right has full-height opposed entrances into the third bay from the right.
North-west gable rebuilt in breeze blocks. Rear side of C18 part has exposed
wattle panels to the top row of its four rows of panels. Interior: raking
struts to C18 part, one truss having a heavily cambered tie-beam (re-used?);
tallet has interrupted collar truss with raking struts; C19 part has pegged
machine cut trusses, with raking struts and iron rods in place of king posts.
