House, 1908, by William Flockhart (c.1850-1913) in Arts and
Crafts style. Brick, mainly roughcast rendered with hipped,
mansard and half hipped roofs at varied levels, all plain
tiled. Rendered brick stacks. Asymmetric plan but generally of
two ranges with tower at centre. Two storeys and one storey and
attic with dormers. The fenestration is of small pane
casements, some with pivot lights. There have been alterations
to the fenestration at ground floor. The tower is of three
storeys and attic with half hipped, tiled roof surmounted by a
weathervane. The principal entry is off centre, to the north
east end. Segmental arch with keyblock in splayed opening with
hood of segmental open pediment on brackets. A perspective of
the house by Oliver Hill (1887-1968) titled "A Prospect of a
House near Cambridge" is in the RIBA drawings collection.
Oliver Hill was a pupil of Flockhart.
