Cottages, formerly Bell Inn. Circa C17 or C18 with circa C18 rear wing and early
C19 extension. Remodelled early C19 reusing C16 doorway. Slate stone with scantle
slate roof and brick gable chimneys. Originally 3 roomed plan with C18 gabled wing
to rear and early C19 extension to right. 2 storeys, 4 windows. Ground floor has
window, door, window, door and 2 windows. Left door has reused C16 moulded jambs
and 4 centred arched head with C19 granite hood mould. Other doorframe (probably
C19) has 4 centred granite arch and jambs with flat chamfer and similar hood mould.
3 ground floor windows are 3 light casements with 24 panes and 2-light, 12-panel
casement to right all under flat stone arches. 3 first floor windows were raised
when roof was heightened C19 and have 16 paned 2 light casements under dormered
gables. Original roof was probably thatched. Rear wall to lower left room has cob
walling possibly marking position of removed wing. Interior has open beamed
ceilings in second room and wing. Fireplace in the second room is in lateral
position on back wall. Cobbled pavement adjoins road.
