House and barn adjoining at west. House C17 with C19 and C20 alterations, barn
circa C18. House whitewashed rendered cob with asbestos slate roof, formerly
lower and thatched. Massive stone chimney with brick shaft at right end, rendered
stack at left end. Room above former cart entrance on front at left slate hung
with asbestos slates. Cob barn with slate roof hipped at end. 2 room and through
passage plan with single storey addition at rear right forming L plan. Barn
adjoins single storey addition and projects to rear. Accommodation extended into
former cart entrance and room above. 2 storeys. Roughly symmetrical. 3 window
front with central 6-panel front door, 4 upper panels now glazed. Ground floor
window left C20 timber sash. Ground floor window right early C19 hornless sash
retaining some crown glass in 5 pane above 10 pane. C19 first floor window right
similar. First floor windows left and centre 10-pane C20 fixed windows. C17
ovolo-moulded 2-light timber casement on first floor at rear right. Interior Slate
floor to through passage. Ground floor room right has slate floor, cross beams of
heavy scantling and partially blocked massive fireplace with fireplace beam
concealed. Early C19 stair with stick balusters. Roof timbers replaced late C20.
Cob barn has entrance on south side and pegged collar rafter roof. Barn included
for group value.
