School and School House. C19. Coursed mixed red and calciferous sandstone,with
flush red sandstone quoins, on chamfered plinth. Graduated greenslate roof with
Dutch gables and tall banded ashlar chimney stacks. 4 separate parts all of the
same period and linked together comprising: at left School House 2 storeys,
3 bays; central square 3-storey bell tower/porch with classroom behind; right
single-storey, 4-bay classroom/hall and further right lower double-span wing.
House has projecting Dutch gable with mullioned and transomed windows. Lower
integral 2-storey porch has side doorway and front sash windows in plain
reveals. Left return wall has Dutch gable. Tower has round-arched porch and
twin round-arched bell openings under pyramidal roof. Classroom behind has
mullioned-and-transomed windows and Dutch gables. Classroom/hall has
cross-mullioned windows and projecting central chimney breast. Dutch gables.
Wing has round-arched doorway and C20 casements in stone surrounds.
