SO 33 NE ABBEY DORE CP -

3/20 Newbarns Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Probably C17 with late C19 and late C20 alterations. Timber-
frame with plaster infill, sandstone rubble and brick finished in render,
Welsh slate roofs and rendered stacks. T-plan with main range aligned
roughly east/west and projecting arm to north. Two storeys and attic.
North elevation has one 2-light late C19 casement in gable of projecting
timber-framed part above a 3-light late C20 casement to ground floor, 6-pane
late C20 window to left of entry in lean-to which masks right-hand side of
main range. Interior has newel staircase with some oval treads alongside
blocked fireplace to east end, triangular-headed doorway from main range
to projecting arm, the ground floor room of which has run-out chamfer stops
to its principal and subsidiary ceiling beams.
