A Grade II* Listed Building in Hoby with Rotherby, Leicestershire

Church of All Saints, Ragdale

In the floor at the west of the aisle. Incised slab with marble inlay to Jane relict of George Henton d. 15th March 1792 aet 85. -Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord (Revellations 14.13)-. Given on the slab as Civ V13 but Chapter 4 has 11 verses describing the Lord on his throne. A scholarly hand may have been thinking X is Greek for Ch and rubbed it out as unnecessary after the C, expecting to see the more usual Ch. The work is unsigned. (The Hentons have a number of slates in the churchyard from late C18 through mid C19. Presumably they occupied the Hall). (Photo Nov 2013).
