Three shops with living accommodation, formerly three houses
known as 'Craven's Terrace'. Early C19. Rendered with slate
roof. 3 storeys. Ground floor entirely altered in C20. Upper
storeys remain unaltered, with painted quoins at the left,
glazing bar sashes, and a cornice gutter. Each former house
has one bay to the left and a projecting bow to the right
which contains 3 windows on each floor. On the 1st floor the
left-hand bay of No 221 (at the left) is blank, but there is a
bowed oriel projecting from the left-hand return wall. This
has sashed windows and faces Northumberland Street. Chimneys
to right of each house. No 217 at the right, contains
Brucciani's cafe on the ground floor, which retains some
features in an Art Deco style, including fascia lettering,
entrance doors, and wall panelling with inset mirrors, clock
and picture.
