gateway to Taw Vale Terrace

GV II

Perimeter walls enclosing the front gardens of Taw Vale
Terrace. 1830s.Snecked local volcanic trap, cast iron
railings.
The walls extend from the Railway Inn (q.v), probably part of
the same development as Taw Vale, along Station Road and down
the boundary of No 1 on the Exeter Road. Low, coped walls
topped with cast iron railings with spearhead finials. The
entrance to the shared carriageway to Taw Vale Terrace has
been widened. One hammer-dressed stone gate pier remains in
situ with a moulded pyramidal cap, the other pier has been
re-set on the wall.
