Church of St Mary

A Grade II* Listed Building in Manton, Rutland

Church of St Mary, Manton

Uploader's Comments

The C14 south porch is side buttressed, with a single squared window to chambers in the gable, and big arched doorway with hoodmould and hollow chamfered shafts: low pitched roof with coping and cross finial to gable (weathered, absent at time of photo). Scratch dial on a quoin to left of the hood mould. This would have had a gnomon stuck in it to show the times of services by the suns shadow. Another scrath dial has been started on the opposite side of the porch. (Photo Apr 2008).
