--6--. Limestone, small with shaped top and raised letters (a prayer) on one side and an oval panel on the other side. When listed this was thought to be illegible and probably early C18. I read it as -BLESSED BE YE / LORD IESUS CHR / IST WHO tHAT / (RI)SETH (YE) SUIL / (&) BODY THAT IT / MAY BE FASHIO / NAD (A) LIKE UNTO / HIS GLORIOUS / BOD(Y).- In a modern form this might be -Blessed be the Lord Jesus Christ, who challenges the Soul and Body that it may be made like His (ie pure and holy)-. Surely, an epitaph fitting for troubled times: a century earlier, for example. (Photo Oct 2012).
