Probably former kitchen to former Manor House; now house. C17 or earlier;
altered. Magnesian limestone rubble, rendered; slate roof. Formerly single-
cell plan, 1½ storeys now 2½ storeys with lean-to additions off north and
east sides. All openings altered, doorway now at left side south front; one
window on each floor to the right; left return wall has one window on each
floor, that at ground floor in restored original opening. The principal
features of interest are in the interior; which has a very deep inglenook
fireplace with massive stop-chamfered lintel, original tapering chimney with
rubble smoke head, 2 arched bread ovens in the right hand side of the rear
wall and a similar opening of uncertain purpose in the heck wall to the left;
a board door to the left of the heck; a stop-chamfered spine beam supported
on a timber pad an the bessummer, and exposed joists; restored 3-light
window in west wall, with original jambs and lintel, and restored wooden
diamond mullions, and on the left splay of this window, a graffito of a
sailing boat (perhaps C18 or earlier).
