Terrace houses. Late C18 or refacing of mid C18 houses, later
alterations. Yellow brick, Nos 4 and 6 stuccoed, slate roofs.
4 storeys. 3 windows wide fronts to Nos 4 and 6, No 8 2 windows
wide. Mid C20 shop fronts to ground floors of Nos 4 and 6;
recessed sashes, no glazing bars to upper floors. No 8 has
incomplete early to mid C19 shop front with pilasters, inswept
fascia and decorative cast iron grille above window;
recessed sashes, no glazing bars, under flat gauged arches to
upper floors. Parapets with copings. Part of the Shepherd Market
development laid out c. 1735 and built c. 1746, the designer,
builder and promoter being Edward Shepherd who built and designed
on the Grosvenor and Cavendish Estates.
