Stable block, now several houses, 1842-6 by Edward Blore for
Edward Strutt, later created Lord Belper. Rock-face ashlar with
ashlar dressings. Slate roof. Corbel table. Ashlar coped
gables with kneelers and single ridge finials. Set on an ashlar
plinth. Buttressed. Single storey plus attic. 7 bays. The
single central bay slightly projects and is topped with a single
cupola with corbel table and of 2 stages with band. Top stage
with arched opening. Double chamfered Tudor arched entrance, the
jambs with single chamfer. Either side are 3 narrow fixed lights
alternating with 2 buttresses. Above, single central bay with 2
decorative arrow loops single clock face in the apex. Either
side are single gabled wood and slate roof dormers each with
single C20 casement. Further left is a single small gabled
opening for pigeons. Included for group value only.
