On a stone slab, a brass plaque decorated with a skull and crossbones at the top, hourglass and spread wings at the bottom; symbols of mortality. -Here lyes Collonell Michael Stanhope who was slayne in Willoughby Field in the Month of July 1648 in the 24th Yeare of his age being A Souldier for King Charles the First- (Photo Apr 2015).
