Sir Richard de Willoughby, Judge, 1362, Church of St. Mary and All Saints, Willoughby on the Wolds

Recumbent figure in pleated dress. The robes are those of the Chief Justice of England. As well as the move from traditional knights armour for his effigy, Sir Richard has left us the portrait of his face, instead of an icons. The sides of the alabaster tomb are decorated with blind shields. (Photo Apr 2015).
