Farmhouse. Circa early to mid C18. Flemish bond red brick. Plain tile roof with gabled
ends, the gable parapets having been removed from the front range but surviving on the rear
wings. Brick gable-end and axial stacks. PLAN: 3-room plan front range with entrance hall
between the left and centre rooms and large double range service wing near the centre at
the rear. Small single storey circa C19 extension in the rear right hand angle. EXTERIOR:
2 storeys. Almost symmetrical 3:1 bay front with moulded brick dentil cornice. Tall windows
with cambered arch heads and circa late C19 4-pane sashes on the ground floor and C20
cross-mullion-transom windows on the first floor. Doorway to left of centre with 6-panel
door and rectangular 2-pane overlight. Large rear wing with 2 parapeted gables and
mullion-transom casements in cambered arch openings. INTERIOR: Much of the C18
joinery survives including a good moulded-string staircase with thick moulded balaiters,
moulded handrail and turned newels; fielded 2-panel doors; chamber chimneypieces, one
with flat baluster-like pilasters, the other with eared architrave, frieze and cornice; moulded
wooden ceiling cornice. Old floor boards, chamfered ceiling beams, window shutters and
Victorian slate chimneypiece. Roof structure not seen.
